Paper plane 251
I was there, walking in the middle of the street with my head facing forward, following a destination that didn't exist, so I stopped and looked at the sky: there were many gray and white clouds gathering in the Bogotá sky. There was a lot of fog, it covered my sight, my body and my mind, it filled me with a cold air of nostalgia that abounded not only in the air, but also in the city. Just like a contamination.
Suddenly an angel appeared, among that road full of mist, I could see him clearly, he was wearing black, he looked at me tenderly and with great joy. The angel approached me, hugging me tightly, saying that he had been looking for me for a long time and that he needed to see me. I asked him why he was here, he replied that his death had been a lie, like everything else.
I cried, it wasn't true, inside me I knew it wasn't true. I cried while I was in his arms, feeling the warmth of his body after so many years, but I couldn't speak to him no matter how much I wanted to. It had been years without seeing him alive, feeling him or being able to talk to him, but in the only possible reunion my voice only broke because the tears came out of my eyes without stopping, I knew that the sadness of the reunion and the farewell made my heart burn, it was painful. So I hugged him tighter and closed my eyes, it was a soft, warm hug that made me feel the comfort that I had been looking for so long close to his heart. Although my mind and my mouth were clouded with silence, my heart was overwhelmed with memories: those paper airplanes that I never knew how to make and that he made for me, when he took me to school and on the way we talked and laughed, when he played with me or when he reminded me how much he loved me and how proud he was to have me as his little sister.
But that angel already had to go. I cried more and inconsolably, I didn't want to let go or abandon him, I needed more time, more time to save him and prevent the inevitable, more time to hug him and tell him that I love him, but I knew it was time to let him go. I held him in my arms once more, while he was gradually disappearing, then I woke up and I could feel him, that hug that I had not been able to give him 3 years ago, that I longed for so much while crying every day after his death, that goodbye that I couldn't have it, it was so real that it just burned and burned in my being, leaving a great void where I see those little paper airplanes that we could never fly together.
